Beyond hardness, a part's surface color signals its corrosion protection and use. We color metal through chemical/electrochemical processes that bond in and resist peeling — from multi-color zinc to black oxide to phosphate.

Cr3+ Zinc (choose a color)

White Zinc

Appearance: Bright silvery, clean
Corrosion resistance: Moderate
Best for: General indoor work, hardware

Blue Zinc

Appearance: Bluish bright
Corrosion resistance: Moderate
Best for: Appearance-focused parts

Yellow / Rainbow Zinc

Appearance: Iridescent gold-yellow
Corrosion resistance: High
Best for: Industrial, automotive

Other finishes

Black Oxide

Appearance: Matte black, keeps thread size
Corrosion resistance: Low (oil topcoat helps)
Best for: Looks, reduced glare

Phosphate (Mn-Zn)

Appearance: Gray-black matte
Corrosion resistance: Moderate (as primer)
Best for: Paint primer, reduced friction
